This 4-part live course will examine the most important text in the history of the world. We will conduct close readings of both the Old Testament, paying special attention to the Book of Genesis and the Book of Exodus, and the New Testament, with a focus on the Gospel of Matthew, the Gospel of John, and Epistle to the Romans. Featuring interviews with Biblical scholars, our readings of the Old and New Testaments will be informed by diverse analytical frameworks, from secular-atheist to orthodox Jewish and Christian. This radically ecumenical approach will help students develop their own unique understanding of the foundational document of Judaism, Christianity, and Western civilization.
